Today clients do a road transfer from the Kazangula border to Vic Falls were treated to this gorgeous male lion lying under a tree on the side of the road .

A good reason to stop and enjoy the moment.

Please join us in congratulating last months employee of the month - Sadson Kariyata.

Sadson is part of our maintenance team and makes sure things are running properly, and there are not many things out there that he is unable to maintain or repair.

We thank Sadson for his hard work and being such a great member of our Pioneers team.

Zebra crossings in this part of the world are quit

Zebra crossings in this part of the world are quite literal 🙃

Did you know that Victoria Falls is surrounded by national parks? It means you don't have to travel far to do a morning or afternoon game drive - or a full day of time allows.

Our front of house is happy to assist with any activity bookings - so chat to them to find out what is available.

We have 50 rooms ( including 4 family rooms) at Pioneers.
The room set ups and amenities are all the same, and all rooms can be set in a double or twin conglfiguration.
Although the set up is the same, they don't all look exactly the same. This is because we have 3 different themes.
Side 1 shows our Jungle Room theme.
Slide 2 shows our Elephant Room theme.
Slide 3 shows our Monkey Room theme.

Let us know which one is your favourite, or which one you stayed in.

The temperature is rising - high 30s/low 40s ( celcius) all week and getting hotter each day.
Luckily we have you covered. 2 swimming pools on the property provide the perfect place to cool off and escape the heat.

Traffic was moving slowly this afternoon in Victoria Falls. 😁
This was one of four dagga boys making their way through the residential area.
And while they might look like cows, they are anything but in temperament - so if you come across them, keep your distance.

Thanks to @victoriafallsantipoachingunit
for being on the ground to keep wildlife and humans safe.

A good meal is a must while on holiday.
And at Pioneers you don't have to go far to enjoy one.
Our on site restaurant has something for everyone.
The menu changes with the season to ensure fresh, seasonal produce .

There are some familiar favourites for those whoenjoy a classic. And there are some dishes that might be unfamiliar but worth trying for the more adventurous out there.

Let our our team know if you have any special dietary requests.

While our gardens are home to a great variety of bird life, our resident Fulvous whistling ducks might be the most famous and most photographed of them all.

Some fun facts about these pretty little virds:
🦆despite being called a duck, they are more closely related to swans and geese.
🦆in flight they flap their wings more slowly than other duck species, and they let their feet dangle rather than tucking them in.
🦆they are one of the most widely distributed waterfowl on earth.
🦆 they make a very sweet whistling sound.

If you have already stayed with us, did you take a picture of these ducks?

From moment you enter through our gates, prepare to be transported to an oasis of calm and greenery.
From outside our wall it is hard to imagine what you are walking into - so much space, light, and comfort.

Those of you who have stayed with us tell us what your first impression of Pioneers was. We would love to know.

Those of you who are still to come stay with us, we look forward to welcoming you to our lovely lodge.

For many of our visitors, Victoria Falls forms part of a bigger safari trip. There is always the hope of heading home having seen the Big 5 ( lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant.
But do you know they are not the only 5?
There is the "Small 5" - made up of the buffalo weaver, rhino beetle, elephant shrew, ant-lion and leopard tortoise.
And there is the "Ugly 5".
Other than the warthog ( pictured here in Zambezi National park), do you know what the other 4 animals are? Let us know in the comments.

We say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and some of our favourites are part of this group.

What animal or bird is one you would love to see?
Mine is pangolin.......

Planning a trip to our part of the world?
We think Pioneers should be your choice of places to stay in Victoria Fall.
But don't take our word for it....have a look at this #5bubblereview of #TripAdvisor and get it straight from guests who have loved their time with us.

"Absolutely Fantastic Experience
I cannot say enough good things about this place. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating and made us feel right at home. The grounds were clean and very nice and the food was some of the best food I had on the entire trip. We stopped here after South Africa and I have to say the food at this place was better than anything we ate in South Africa (and their food was already really good). If we ever go back, I wouldn’t think of staying anywhere else."

Come see for yourselves.

The work never stops. Our night time lawnmower are currently hard at work in the car park.

We generally suggest our guests use taxis in the early morning and evenings....and this is why. We regularly get elephant, buffalo and the occasional hippo walking through the residential area. All are 100% wild and should be treated as such.
And we never get tired of seeing sights like this.

Thanks to Claire Ballantyne for capturing this this evening as she drove past.

Pancakes for breakfast? Why not.....you are on holiday 🙂!

A day of sight-seeing and adventuring ( and relaxing) requires adequate fueling up in the morning. Our breakfast offers something for everyone.
Fruits, cereals, cheeses, cold meats and pastries - all served buffet style. Then hot plated made to order.
Enjoy it all with a fruit juice, filter coffee, cup of tea or some refreshing water.

Memories are made on full tummies.

Today is World Elephant Day.
A day that celebrates these incredible mammals.
And raises awareness about protecting habitat, stopping illegal ivory trade, stops abuse, and supports organisation's that support them.

We are lucky enough to see them on a regular basis ( they are often the cause of a traffic jam or two in Victoria Falls).
We are also lucky enough to to have organisation's like @connected.conservation , @victoriafallsantipoachingunit , and @victoriafallswildlifetrust here to educate, assist, and minimize human wildlife conflict.

It never gets old seeing an elephant walking down the road.
