About Pioneers

Pioneers Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

Welcome to Pioneers — a peaceful retreat just 2.5 km from the breathtaking Victoria Falls. Tucked away in a quiet residential suburb, our charming lodge perfectly blends the nostalgic spirit of early explorers with the modern comforts today’s travellers appreciate.

Surrounded by lush gardens and manicured lawns, Pioneers features 50 beautifully designed rooms, each thoughtfully created with space, comfort, and style in mind. All rooms offer tranquil garden views, air-conditioning, ceiling fans, tea and coffee stations, and modern en-suite bathrooms with double vanities. We also offer four family rooms, making the lodge an ideal choice for couples, families, or friends travelling together.

At the heart of the lodge lies our warm and inviting main area — complete with a cosy lounge, a timeless dining room, and a spacious terrace for enjoying relaxed meals outdoors. Our classic saloon-style bar serves a variety of refreshing drinks, including locally brewed, craft beer made with water from the mighty Zambezi. Guests can unwind in one of our two swimming pools, treat themselves at the day spa, catch up on news in the TV room. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. All our rooms and the main lodge area are strictly non-smoking zones; however, designated smoking areas are available throughout the property for guest convenience.

We are deeply committed to sustainable tourism. Much of the lodge is powered by solar energy, and we proudly support local conservation efforts — including anti-poaching initiatives, wildlife research projects, and anti-litter campaigns in the Victoria Falls area.

Above all, we take great pride in our hospitality. From our hands-on owners and friendly managers to every member of our team, we’re here to make you feel welcome and at home from the moment you arrive. Whether it’s your first visit to Victoria Falls or a return to a place you love, Pioneers offers a peaceful and comfortable base for your adventures.

Pancakes for breakfast? Why not.....you are on hol Pancakes for breakfast? Why not.....you are on holiday 🙂!

A day of sight-seeing and adventuring ( and relaxing) requires adequate fueling up in the morning. Our breakfast offers something for everyone.
Fruits, cereals, cheeses, cold meats and pastries - all served buffet style. Then hot plated made to order.
Enjoy it all with a fruit juice, filter coffee, cup of tea or some refreshing water.

Memories are made on full tummies.

A day that celebrates these incredible mammals.
And raises awareness about protecting habitat, stopping illegal ivory trade, stops abuse, and supports organisation's that support them.

We are lucky enough to see them on a regular basis ( they are often the cause of a traffic jam or two in Victoria Falls).
We are also lucky enough to to have organisation's like @connected.conservation , @victoriafallsantipoachingunit , and @victoriafallswildlifetrust here to educate, assist, and minimize human wildlife conflict.

It never gets old seeing an elephant walking down the road.

A great base in Vic Falls
I stayed at Pioneers Victoria Falls recently and have no hesitation in recommending this small lodge-styled hotel. The ambience is relaxed and casual, the architecture draws on the early colonial residential style of low-pitched roofs and wide verandas, décor is stylish and colorful, but the real charm is the gardens at the heart of the property, featuring two swimming pools, around which the comfortable rooms are arranged. An easy half hour to slow hour’s walk from town, the location is suburban, and far enough from the Falls that the beat of the sight-seeing helicopters is distant and not an annoyance. Meals are well prepared and presented, with plenty of choice available. There is an exclusive, private feel to this property – a great base from which to explore the Falls, or to rest and refresh before the next leg of an itinerary.

This little family of mongooses ( yes...the plural is mongooses and not mongeese...although mongeese is acceptable) kept us entertained while we were at the ATM today.
It's not unusual to see mongooses, baboons and warthogs when walking in town ( and elephants and buffalo on the roads) here. It is important to remember that these are all wild animals and should be treated as such. Keep a sensible distance, don't feed them or attempt to pat them, and ( most importantly) take a moment to watch their antics.

"Delightful, quiet, beautiful
Pioneers Lodge is a charming beautiful place I totally enjoyed. The accommodations were large, updated and very clean and all of the service was exceptional. I highly recommend this authentic, delightful and relaxing quiet respite to be a place to stay at. Very private, cozy, safe, clean, updated, with large accommodations. I would go back to stay repeatedly. The grounds were like a large garden with two pools and waterfalls and lush plants and blooming flowers. The breakfast buffet was diverse and good quality. Meals off the menu were delicious and very satisfying."

We have had a phenomenal rainy season, as have our neighbour's where the flood water push come from.
The water level is already significantly higher than it was at peak flow last year....and still a lot of rising to go. We will be here for it....will you???

Turn your sound up and listen to the power of our favourite water feature.
